Merry Christmas

On behalf of everyone at The Logistics Partnership LLP and all of our recruitment brands; MVP Search & Selection, Drivelink, More Driving and Forward Prospects,  I would like to say a big thank you to all of our clients (both businesses and candidates) as well as our suppliers for all of your help and support in 2016.

If you can say nothing else about 2016, there has certainly been a lot of change; National Minimum Wage (NMW), Brexit, a new Prime Minister and a new US President elect. Whilst this has created some uncertainty in the markets, in real terms, economically, it doesn’t appear to have affected GDP growth too much in the past 12 months, with growth predictions expected to bottom out at around 2%, which is only marginally down from the 2.2% originally projected.

Economically, 2017 looks set to bring more uncertainty and forecasts from PWC (Nov, 2016) are predicting growth slowing to 1.2% in 2017. The slowdown in growth is projected to come from a ‘real terms’ decline in consumer spending, driven by a weaker pound as well as an anticipated reticence in investment from the business community, as uncertainty continues around the future of the UK’s trading relationship with the EU in the long term. In the end, without the aid of a crystal ball, at this stage it is almost impossible to predict what will happen.

For us, the labour market remains strong in the UK, and the time of writing, this seems unlikely to change into 2017, with unemployment currently sitting at just 4.9% and talent and skills shortages being felt across all of our brands throughout 2016. As talent acquisition and retention increasingly becomes a headline topic on the agendas for boardrooms across the country, and candidates are seeking a more independent, consultative relationship with a recruitment partner. Selecting a well established, specialist recruitment partner should also be at the top of everyone’s agenda. So whether you are a candidate or company here’s what we’ve done - just in the last 12 months – to make sure that we keep ourselves at the forefront of supply chain recruitment:

  • Following candidate and client surveys, and some work with an external consultancy we have made updates to all of our websites, and digital strategy to improve the user experience. Further development is already planned for 2017.
  • We have invested significantly in SEO, Social Media and all things digital across all of our brands.
    • For our clients, this means more focus on uncovering passive talent as well as new methods to engage with our existing networks
    • For our candidates, we have and will continue to gather and listen to your feedback and tailor our content by brand to keep you updated with industry knowledge, provide tips, information and answer your questions
  • We have worked with several clients in providing our psychometric testing and assessment services,  improving retention on behalf of our clients as well as helping to develop an ongoing training and development programme via our full consultancy service
  • We have been joined the FTA Freight Council, are full CILT members and are actively working with Women in Logistics to help promote and play an active role within the markets that we serve
  • We have introduced a new booking system within Drivelink and More Driving meaning our clients will be able to audit our compliance levels remotely, giving operators peace of mind that HGV drivers have the required documentation and that checks have been regularly completed
  • We have worked with our chosen ‘charity of the year’ to raise money and awareness of The Neuro Foundation.

Most importantly we have helped a lot of people this year; we’ve helped people to find their dream job, their next step up the ladder and the businesses we work with to solve their staffing and development needs.

If you want to know more about our individual brands and services, please do find us at, or feel free to get in touch directly, by phone, email or drop by to any one of our locations for a free coffee and a chat! All of our contact details can be found on our websites through the TLP address above.

So until 2017, all that remains is for me to thank you all once more, and wish you, and your families a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.
