Monday to Friday – days-based position

Are you an experienced, forward-thinking manager of transport operations looking for an opportunity to bring your knowledge, skills and passion for best practice to a role where you’ll have overall responsibility for an existing operation? 

MVP is partnering with a dynamic, fast-growing business with ambitious future plans.  The group’s logistics operations are integral to providing its clients with a seamless delivery service and, to further develop its operations, the business is now looking to appoint a talented Transport Manager to lead and develop all activities, people and processes across its distribution operations. 

The Role

You’ll work closely with the senior management team and other business departments to lead and develop a fully compliant, efficient transport operation.  You will proactively manage a small team of drivers, providing effective leadership and fostering high levels of engagement.  You’ll be responsible for the following:

  • Managing and developing your team, identifying training opportunities and ensuring all team members are clear on role responsibilities and accountabilities
  • Proactively maintaining vehicle and driver compliance in accordance with legislation / regulations and company policy
  • Ensuring all deliveries are OTIF
  • O License responsibility
  • Promoting and maintaining excellent Health and Safety standards  
  • Creating, managing and reporting on KPIs to measure and drive performance improvements and efficiencies across the transport operation
  • Identifying and recommending opportunities for continuous improvement and change initiatives
  • Management of transport-based IT systems - making recommendations for continuous improvements

What You’ll Bring:

  • Previous experience of managing fast-paced transport operations (FMCG, retail, food etc)
  • Strong knowledge of transport operational best practice  
  • Ideally – CPC for Transport Managers qualification or working towards
  • Ideally – previous experience of being named on Operators License
  • Proven people management skills – able to motivate, engage and lead a team to deliver exceptional results
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practice for transport operations
  • Very strong knowledge of the London area from a distribution / transport perspective
  • Previous experience and knowledge of route planning
  • Excellent IT skills and passionate about using technology to deliver improvements across distribution operations
  • Collaborative working style, able to work cross-functionally across the business
  • A really positive, can-do approach and the ability to work both strategically and in a hands-on way to support your team and the operation
