Logistics Operations Manager

Surrey – commutable from Leatherhead, Woking, Guildford, Mitcham, Croydon, Chertsey

MVP is working with an innovative, highly service-led business that is seeking to appoint a Logistics Operations Manager to proactively manage all warehouse, distribution and installation operations within the UK.  Part of a $550m turnover US business, the company is a market leader in its sector and has plans to grow its UK business further.  As part of the UK senior management team, you will be responsible for: 


  • Managing all day to day operations including warehouse and delivery operations, staff scheduling, product inventory and vehicle fleet management
  • Managing the effective scheduling, routing and control of all fleet activity to ensure efficient delivery and pick-up of inventory within the UK
  • Working cross-functionally with the business to ensure the effective flow of communication between departments
  • Creating, leading and ensuring a safety-first culture throughout the operation – act as Health & Safety Officer for the UK business
  • Leadership of all warehouse and distribution personnel – providing effective coaching and development
  • Providing meaningful management reporting, participate in monthly senior team meetings
  • Driving operational capacity to optimum operational and financial efficiency

Qualifications, Experience & Skills – you will need the following:

  • Previous managerial experience gained within a logistics/distribution environment – warehousing, transport
  • Strategic leadership ability, coupled with experience in long-term planning to accommodate growth opportunities
  • Strong experience and knowledge of Health & Safety within logistics operations – you must hold IOSH certification
  • Transport Manager CPC
  • Strong organizational, logistical and analytical skills
  • Excellent people management experience and abilities – capable of motivating, inspiring and supporting your team
  • Strong IT skills/capabilities
  • Continuous improvement champion
  • Previous experience within the furniture industry will be an advantage
