client, a renowned luxury boatbuilder, is on the lookout for a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role is pivotal in
ensuring the excellence of vessel electrical systems, demanding proficiency in producing precise 2D CAD information for production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Take charge of the electrical Design Change Request (DCR) process for all boats in our client's range, ensuring seamless execution and compliance. 
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee existing design standards and actively contribute to continuous quality improvements, fostering a culture of excellence. 
  • Team Management: Lead and inspire the electrical design team and production managers, driving productivity and meeting project milestones.
  • Supplier Collaboration: Collaborate closely with client managers and procurement to manage design aspects of the external supply chain, ensuring seamless integration.
  • Cross-Departmental Coordination**: Foster strong relationships with production, engineering, and joinery departments, facilitating smooth communication and workflow. 
  • Active Participation: Attend key development, production, and project meetings, staying abreast of contract variations and production feedback.
  • Timely Reporting: Provide accurate and timely data for meetings and management reports, ensuring informed decision-making.
  • Design Expertise: Utilise AutoCAD to check, update, and issue precise 2D electrical schematic and panel drawings, adhering to industry standards.
  • Production Support : Develop contract-specific 2D CAD electrical information for production, facilitating seamless execution. 
  • Process Optimisation: Produce cable running schedules based on manufacturing processes and installation requirements, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements:

  • Technical Expertise: Possess a deep understanding of marine AC and DC electrical systems, materials, and techniques.
  • Industry Insight: Demonstrate a solid understanding of yacht systems and electrical installation in small craft production.
  • Software Proficiency: Showcase proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), and other relevant software.
  • Leadership Experience: Have experience leading a team in a technical capacity, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate.
  • Preferred Skills: Experience with marine digital switching systems and lighting systems integration preferred.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Hold a design-related degree/qualification or equivalent electrical design experience, along with qualification
  • to 18th Edition IT wiring regulations.
  • Additional Certifications: BMEA Marine Electrical Technician qualification preferred.
