Health and Safety Manager – Warehousing & Logistics

East Midlands

Up to c£50,000 + great benefits

 

MVP’s client is an award-winning logistics business with multiple operations within the UK.  They are currently seeking to appoint a Health and Safety Manager to take overall responsibility for ensuring the company’s H&S policy is complied with, and for driving a proactive approach to Health & Safety across all logistics operations. 

 

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Working on a collaborative basis with the Group H&S Director and peers across the business, sharing best practice
  • Implementing a Health & Safety strategy to improve safety and reduce risk
  • Carry out an audit programme across all company sites – report on findings and manage any issues
  • Implementing practical and effective safety methods to make sure all warehouse and transport operations are carried out safely
  • Conduct and record all risk assessments
  • Co-ordinate and manage colleague safety reps, first aid and emergency response teams

 

You’ll need the following skills and experience:

  • A qualification in occupational H&S – eg Masters, BSc, NVQ, NEBOSH National Diploma)
  • Previous experience in a H&S role within a logistics / distribution business
  • A good level of knowledge of transport and warehousing operations
  • Great leadership abilities – able to drive the H&S agenda through people
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and associated H&S technical standards
  • Flexibility with working hours and the ability to travel to other sites across the UK as required
  • Good IT skills
