Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your commercial career with a dynamic team within an award-winning national logistics business?  This thriving organisation provides logistics and supply chain management solutions to its blue-chip customer base and is experiencing sustained growth. 

The company is looking to expand its existing commercial team with the appointment of an Assistant Commercial Manager, who will be responsible for working with an established client base, conducting rate reviews, contract negotiations and extensions and providing end to end support to the Commercial Manager and the wider team.

What you’ll do: 

  • Creation and review of cost models for both new and existing business to ensure profitability of key customers
  • Key account management support for commercial discussions
  • Work closely with customers to develop existing relationships and provide best in class customer service
  • Be responsible for the bid management process to include completion of RFIs and RFQ documentation
  • Creation of operating agreements and proposals and managing the negotiation with the respective customers
  • Engage with national depot management teams to ensure continuous improvement measures are in place to drive operational efficiencies
  • Work closely with customers to understand their strategic ambitions and ensure the business plays a lead role in supporting them
  • Create a weekly report of leads; manage the monthly site update
  • Attend client meetings and site visits as required

Qualifications, Experience & Skills required:

This role will suit you if you have previous experience within the logistics or supply chain sector and have gained skills in a commercial, sales or account management position.  The business will actively support you with training and development, but you must already have the following abilities and attributes: 

  •         Ideally – previous experience in an operational role within the logistics sector
  •         Able to demonstrate commercial awareness with both customers and suppliers
  •         Strong information presentation skills – able to use data to provide meaningful insights in a professional manner
  •         Really strong communication skills – able to convey confidence and build trust
  •         Great relationship-building abilities
  •         Flexibility and ability to travel and potentially stay away from home
  •         Able to command respect from the team through knowledge, experience and a     positive personal style
  •         Passionate about providing excellent service 

A typical week in this role will involve a couple of days in the office in Gloucestershire or at one of the company’s site locations, a day with a client / prospective client and an element of home working.
