As a Buyer you will be responsible for the management of a set category and the
continuous development and management of the overall procurement process. Specifically you will:
• Maintain all historical and forward information relating to the category set(s) allocated to enable maximum effectiveness in buying
• Undertake Benchmarking, research and cost/benefit analysis
• Manage tendering activities to secure best suited materials or services at the best overall cost advantage
• Maintain supplier intelligence in order to facilitate secure primary supply and alternative sourcing in place to provide sustainability.
• Rationalise and reduce the supplier base wherever possible
• Developing technical specifications with the functional experts for all goods and services
• Participate in cross functional teams to agree product specification and implement improved processes and procedures.
• Coach, support, provide guidance and a clear interface to functional areas in the best practice approach to buying, scheduling and managing accounts payable, contract terms
Experience Required
Educated to at least A level standard you will have already gained purchasing experience, ideally within an SME manufacturing organisation. Good all round commercial acumen, particularly in respect of supply chain, is vital as is knowledge of process analysis and efficiency improvement tools. A team player who enjoys project delivery you will have the confidence and sensitivity to manage change in an effective manner
