Purchasing Manager / Senior Buyer - South West
Description
A truly global organisation with annual sales of almost $2billion our client supply sophisticated technology to a broad range of industries including aerospace, pharmaceutical, food manufacturing and power generation. The South West site has undergone considerable change in recent months and this process will continue throughout 2008.
As Purchasing Manager / Team Leader you will maximize the commercial benefit of the business supplier base through cost, quality, service and innovation initiatives that deliver lowest total cost of ownership. Specifically you will:
• Manage a team of both Interim and Permanent Buyers, providing support on day to day activities as well as supporting their development and progression within the Purchasing Team.
• Monitor Employee performance and executing employee appraisals.
• Manage the Department to achieve lowest cost of ownership on all goods and services purchased.
• Ensure contracts put in place by the buyers are commercially beneficial and conform to Quality Standards.
• Manage and oversee preventative and corrective actions, process improvements and the development of supplier performance metrics
• Building strong cross-functional internal business relationships, taking a consultative approach on projects and day to day operations
• Provide Action Plans to local and corporate management
• Management of vendor quality performance.
• Liaise with Sales / Marketing / Engineering on new products.
• Communicating to and reporting at all levels of the global business
• Assist Quality Manager to audit suppliers.
• Keep abreast of new technology and innovations in order that the business will benefit from them.
Experience Required
You will have already gained similar experience within a complex, quality centred manufacturing environment. Your coaching skills will be complemented by the desire and ability to ‘lead from the front’ demonstrating your own negotiating skills and understanding of contract law and drafting. Project management experience is vital as is the ability to solve problems logically and effectively.
