MVP’s client is a real success in the UK distribution and logistics sector with a loyal customer base, multiple depot locations and a strong focus on providing best-in-class transport and warehousing solutions to its clients.  An opportunity has now arisen for a motivated and ambitious individual to join the business at Board level, with responsibility for leading and developing all UK logistics operations, whilst contributing to the specification, development and implementation of company strategy in pursuit of sustainable and profitable company growth. 

Candidate requirements:

  • Significant previous experience of managing at senior level within a similar environment ie a national logistics business with dispersed multi-sites.  Experience of managing a fleet function would be advantageous.
  • Able to lead in areas that require negotiation and conclusion with either internal or external stakeholders. Examples may include people management and development; customer relationships.
  • Experience of working in commercially driven environments.
  • Strategic planning and timely tactical execution.
  • Developing, implementing and managing processes.
  • Solid appreciation of the use of IT systems as a basis for process adherence, the delivery of company financial and operational KPIs and as the foundation for process improvement and service innovation.
  • A track record of developing and successfully implementing large-scale projects; whether these be operational, process or people based.
  • A very strong grasp of relevant operational and Health and Safety legislation and understanding the most effective ways to stay abreast of legislation as it develops.
  • Experience of a culture of continuous incremental improvements. Examples of significant process and procedural improvements will be sought.
  • Experience of working within a unionised environment would be beneficial.
