Logistics Operations Manager
Excellent opportunity to join a global manufacturing business in a fast-paced, challenging role. In this position, you’ll proactively manage all operations associated with the effective inbound supply, storage and distribution of the company’s products in the UK.
Managing the relationship with the outsourced logistics provider, contractually and in terms of service deliveryLead weekly and monthly operational reviews with the 3PLActing as the main interface between manufacturing plants, hauliers and UK warehouse operationsFinancial controls, budget-setting – ensuring costs are invoiced correctly, monitoring freight and warehousing costs, reporting on variancesProposing and leading improvement projects within the logistics operationsDrive tendering processes
Previous experience of managing operations within a supply chain or warehousing and distribution environment. A strong knowledge of warehousing and transport management is a definite requirement – current practice, processes, systems etc.Ideally – previous experience of managing 3PL contracts and relationshipsHighly numerate with strong analytical skills – able to analyse and solve problemsPrevious experience of financial management/budget setting and controlExperience and knowledge of Health & Safety within logistics operationsThe ability to forge strong relationships across business functions internallyExcellent negotiation and influencing skillsStrong systems knowledge and experience – SAP/MS Office/WMSIdeally – educated to degree level in a business-related disciplineIdeally – professional memberships eg CILT, CIPS
